Production
At Teira 1996, our production is everything: From sourcing our leftover fabrics to how we design and produce our pieces, nothing is left to chance. Really.
From the very beginning, we decided to mainly work with leftover fabrics. So many beautiful fabrics are waiting to be used at production sites across the globe, and even though it does make our business more limited, we still can't see any other way than using what has already been made. Sometimes a leftover fabric allows 10 units of a style, sometimes it allows 100 of a style, but that is what makes our items special - they are limited, and not something you share with rest of the world.
It is our production partners who help us source the leftover fabrics locally, so that we don't ship fabrics from one end of the world to another. We work with a handful of small family-owned productions in Italy, Portugal & Turkey, who have been chosen for their socially & environmentally responsible profile - and of course their craftsmanship. Our knitwear is made and produced in Denmark & Italy from the finest wool available, and is the only category, where we don’t use leftovers.
It was important to us to find production partners, who would allow us to make small orders, so that we only produce what can be sold. It is really not common to make small drops instead of seasonal collections and produce 10-100 pieces instead of +300, but our five partners have agreed to do so, and for that we are forever grateful.
Money and growth is not our motivation - we believe in a responsible business strategy, where people and planet come first.
